Early Childhood Education
Whether you work in a preschool, pre K, kindergarten, lower elementary special education, daycare, Sunday School, summer programs, Head Start... Wherever you are working with very young kids, they want to be good, but honestly may not know how yet because they just don't have enough experience. To go along with The Rules my illustrator and I have come up with a variety of signs, labels, and posters you can use to decorate and organize your space.
After reading The Rules to you class, take a tour of the room.
Where do they go when you say "line up?" To the line up poster, with a picture of the character from the book you just read, who showed them how to line up.
Your students will always know what they should be doing with the picture schedule displayed.
Clean up is easy if your students know where all the supplies go. Use the colors, letters, shapes, and numbers labels to mark your boxes and shelves. Of course, most items are labeled in writing because it's a print-rich environment. But before students can read, most can learn to match shapes and colors. They don't need to read "cars" if the cars box has a blue circle on it, and there is one circle spot on the blue shelf.
It's all free! I hope it helps you and your students connect literature to real life and stay organized.
