About the Author

Hello,

I'm Jeffrey Pax. My cat, Sentinel, and I live in Savannah, Georgia, but I grew up in Michigan. I'm  a former pre kindergarten special education teacher. I also taught the Functional Skills special education program at a middle school.
And before that, I worked in group homes and did respite care for adults and children with disabilities. The reasons I was drawn to that profession are themes that I like to explore in my writing. Everyone can grow, become more and better than we were before. Problem solving is a way of life. And kindness is absolutely paramount.

My first book, The Rules, is the book I wish I'd had from my first day as a teacher.

I'm also an Army Reservist. From just surviving basic training, to mastering my day to day tasks, pursuing promotions, and taking on larger roles in the unit, being in the Army is like nothing else I've experienced. It's more than just memorizing a creed or learning a new skill set. My thinking has changed. As I've developed as a soldier, I've seen more of an emphasis on structure and leadership in writing projects I'm still working on.

The Rules teaches kindness based good behavior at school or daycare. Books I release in the future will explore good behavior in the community, the mindset of problem solving, coping with and overcoming disabilities, friendship, teamwork, loyalty, leadership, and the nature of monsters.
